Programs & Services

The Parent Connection
The programs and services offered at The Parent Connection are invaluable to promoting the well-being and resiliency of families in our community. There are several formats to choose from… each incorporating the concepts of mutual respect between family members as well as fun and engaging activities that promote child development and positive parenting techniques.

First Steps
A program of support and education for parents after the birth of a child. The First Steps program also offers free weekly support groups, providing an excellent way for new parents to give and receive peer support and to understand that they are not alone in the challenges and joys that are so much part of being the parent of an infant.

Play-based Parenting Groups
An opportunity for parents to learn how the many little things they can do affect their child’s healthy cognitive and emotional development. Activities take place in a safe and stimulating playroom environment and include songs and games as well as structured and unstructured play that promote the five developmental domains of language acquisition, social/emotional skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and intellect.

Parenting Classes
A variety of classes designed to address parenting issues beginning with birth through the teen years. Each class is based on a research-based curriculum that reflects positive parenting techniques. These include, but are not limited to, Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP), Guiding Good Choices, and Calming the Family Storm.

Parents as Teachers – Healthy Families
An early childhood parent education and family support program that provides parents information on child development prenatally to age 3, and involves them in parent-child activities that encourage optimal development. Activities takes place during scheduled in-home visits and are an excellent opportunity to access one-on-one information and support around parenting.

A menu of speciality services that include: Infant massage, CPR, Newborn Baby Care, Sign With Your Baby, one-on-one parenting consultation and more.
